After 16 years of working with animals as a vet tech, there are at least 10 other breeds of dogs I can name that bite without fail. A pit bull is not one of them. I can honestly say I have never had to muzzle one in a hospital situation, but must use muzzles daily on the small "ankle biters" such as Daschunds, Chihuahuas, and others. The reason pits get a bad rap is because when a Chihuahua bites someone it doesn't make the 6pm news. When a pit bites, they do tremendous damage due to their strength. I wish every dog bite was reported, so the public could see the huge difference in total number of bites per breed. Pits would most certainly be near the bottom of that list.
